Population dynamics of Apis mellifera – An application of N-Mixture Models

نویسنده

  • Adam Schneider
چکیده

This study investigates the population of Apis mellifera located in the montane meadows of the H.J. Andrews Forest. The generalized N-Mixture model was applied to estimate the abundance, the spatial distribution and the temporal population dynamics of Apis mellifera. Habitat fragmentation has been shown to have a negative impact on plant-pollinator networks. This study will test how meadow isolation and loss of meadow habitat affects the estimated Apis mellifera population.

ارزیابی اثر برخی ترکیبات شیمیایی دورکننده روی زنبورعسل (. Apis mellifera L ) در ایستگاه‌های تغذیه ای در مزرعه

Due to injuries of pesticides to natural enemies of pests and pollinator insects, especially honeybees, during the flowering periods, it is essential to protect them. Application of chemical compounds along with the pesticides on the plants could repel the non-target insects from the sprayed areas for sometime and lessen the hazards of pesticides to them. In this study, ten repellent chemicals ...

مطالعه مرفولوژیک زنبور عسل معمولی (Apis mellifera L.) در ایران

The first step in fundamental breeding of any living organism is the determination of its genetic make-up. To investigate the genetic make-up of the European honeybee (Apis mellifera L.) in Iran, some research attempts were made during the years 1992-1996 in which the bee's relationship with some exotic races were determined through the application of morphological methods. For this purpose 130...

Population dynamics of the Cape bee phenomenon: The impact of parasitic laying worker clones in apiaries and natural populations

A population ecological hostparasite model is used to evaluate the potential impact of clonal parasitic laying workers of the Cape honeybee, Apis mellifera capensis on populations of Apis mellifera scutellata host colonies in apiaries and in the wild. The model includes three basic life history parameters: reproductive rate of the host colonies, transmission efficiency of the parasite and the d...

Genetic structure of Caspian Sea southern area honeybee populations, based on microsatellite polymorphism

Genetic diversity is a key component of ecosystems. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the genetic diversity of Iranian native honeybee colonies (Apis mellifera meda L.) located in the northern region. Colonies from 24 locations have been analyzed using microsatellite markers. Samples were collected from Caspian Sea southern area (north of Iran). Six microsatellite markers (A28, A29, ...
